Ford has released power outputs, but not performance figures, for its all-new Mustang that goes on sale in right-hand drive in the UK this summer 2015. Two engines will be offered: A 429bhp 5.0-litre V8 or a more European-friendly (slightly) 306bhp 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. US buyers also get the option of a 296bhp 3.7-litre V6, but it’s not coming here and there’s no diesel for us limeys, or anyone else.
Mercedes unveiled its first ever diesel hybrid at the 2010 Geneva motor, along with a Bluetec version of its ageing Geländewagen and an SLS AMG supercar decked out in full F1 safety car spec. They’re pretty good. The E300 Bluetec Hybrid features Merc’s 201bhp twin-turbo, 2.1-litre four-pot, with a 15kW electric motor positioned between it and the seven-speed auto ‘box.

It’s tempting to feel that BMW was actually trying to be controversial with the new hot 3-series. For a start, the M3 Coupe is dead. Just as the two-door Three is now the 4-series (confused yet?), the flagship 4-series wears the new ‘M4’ badge.
